Girls On Top - The Complete Series

The complete two series of the seminal '80s comedy series written by Ben Elton and starring French & Saunders, Ruby Wax and Tracey Ullman. The series follows the escapades of four unlikely and often warring roommates: Amanda (French), a stanch feminist writer for the magazine 'Spare Cheeks' Jennifer (Saunders), a mentally challenged childhood friend Candice (Ullman) a promiscuous maneater and Shelley (Wax) and American heiress and would-be actor. Their meddlesome landlady, Lady Carlton (Joan Greenwood) downstairs - a Barbara Cartland-esque figure - lives with the stuffed remains of her pet dog, Josephine. Widely considered the female reply to The Young Ones, the series deals in the same irreverence and scatological humour, exploring common female stereotypes of the day.
