An extremely attractive semi dwarf type juniper that is sometimes used as a groundcover, but is equally as useful as a low growing foreground planting, or colorful accents along borders, walkways, or in front of larger growing species with different color & texture. Growth habit is somewhat squatty, and vase shaped, being narrower at the base, and spreading or arching outward at about a 45 degree angle from the base. Foliage is a bright chartreuse yellow color especially when new, and during the warmer months - turns a rich coppery color in winter, especially in colder climates providing a definite seasonal interest. Adapts to a fairly wide range of soils & conditions, but does prefer well drained soils for best results. Also prefers locations with good sun exposure in order to display the brightest coloration possible. Lime Glow Juniper has extremely bright chartreuse yellow new growth fades slightly to a bright lime green with maturity. Winter coloration has strong coppery accents, which dissipates with the onset of warmer temps in spring. Lime Glow Juniper is a multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with a ground-hugging habit of growth. It lends an extremely fine and delicate texture to the landscape composition which should be used to full effect. This is shrub will require regular care and upkeep, and is best pruned in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed. Deer don't particularly care for this plant and will usually leave it alone in favor of tastier treats. It has no significant negative characteristics. This shrub does best in full sun to partial shade. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist growing conditions, but will not tolerate any standing water. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments.
